I live in the first congressional district in Arizona and we have a one-term republican carpetbagger representing us who is a good target for democrats to gain a seat from. The district contains more registered democrats then republicans and our candidate in well known in the region.
His name is Paul Babbitt. He is the brother of Bruce Babbitt and the Babbitt name is big here in Northern Arizona. Please take a moment and contribute even a few dollars to his campaign. We really need your help. If you do contribute, please add 3 cents so the campaign knows the dollars are coming in from a progressive blog.
More about the race inside.
Paul Babbit is the former mayor of Flagstaff, which is the largest city in the district. Paul is well-known by most here in the community. But the district is huge, about the size of Illinois and we really need the funds to help get the word out and to compete with the incumbent.
The guy that Paul is running against, Rick Renzi, is a one-termer who is not very popular in the district. He doesn't live here but before the capaign, purchased a house in our town. He never did live in that house. Instead, he had his staffers live their and the neighbors got so fed-up we their parties and trash in the yard that almost all of them put up signs for the democrat.
Renzi is absolutely a rubber-stamp republican. He voted with his party over 90% of the time. He voted for the tax cuts, he went along with the president on the loss of overtime pay issue and so many other straight party votes.
During his last campaign the RNC dumped tons of money into our district. They had signs everywhere, commercials constantly and played all the dirty tricks. From deceptive flyers to push polling, you name it, they did it and we can expect more of the same. But with all that, Renzi only won by 3%. And the democrat he won against was weak candidate.
So please take a moment and send a few dollars our way and please add 3 cents to the contribution. The grassroots group that I work with are former Dean supporters and we really want the local party to see us a legitimate movement. Thank you for your time.
